Down's Syndrome vs. Down Syndrome
So there has been a movement in medicine to change the possesive eponymns of diseases to non-possesive, as in the case of Down Syndrome and Burkitt lymphoma, which used to be called Burkitt’s lymphoma. I don’t know why this is a big deal but it is. I guess it’s as bad as calling HIV, like Magic Johnson did, the HIV-Virus. It is redundant Human Immunodeficiency Virus Virus.

Borborygmus
Medical word of the day. This is usually used in the plural form (borborygmi). It basically means excessively acitve stomach graowling/ overactive stomch sounds. Not really associated with any specific diseases, although it is commonly associated with diarrhea , gas, or hunger.

I was working on my coagulation cases and I needed a refresher on Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, a bacterial disease transmitted by ticks. It is abbreviated RMSF. So that’s what i googled. Instead I got www.rmsf.org.
Which stands for Rubber Men of San Francisco Bay… I’ll let you figure out what that’s all about.
